VNA.. described as a "Distinctive Model on a National Scale"

In the June issue of The Journal from Rockwell Automation

The article highlights the authorized Allen Bradley Distributors and their capabilities, which clearly  distinguishes this distributors channel against their competitors. The article describes their partnering skill, technical expertise and unsurpassed local support. Additionally, the article decribes how the distributors formed an umbrella company called Vanguard National Alliance (VNA).

In this unique model, VNA helps the distributors give customers a single point of contact, a single contract, a single invoice and national pricing. VNA develops a proposal for each customer using negotiated prices with all electrical suppliers whose products are needed. Distributors then have a template specific to each customer, and they continue to provide the delivery and service on a local level.

“One big advantage is the reduced transaction cost,” says Gary DeVost, VNA’s president and CEO. “Rather than cutting numerous purchase orders with various suppliers for multiple plants, a customer can write one or just a few. This single contract also eliminates the number of transactions in payables, receivables, pricing and electronic connectivity.”  Read More

TCO Success Story

A large food and beverage facility had been experiencing recurring downtime issues on a feeder line during production. The line would be down for 5 minute intervals for each shift, resulting in 75 minutes of lost production every week. The impact to revenue earnings was a loss of $5,250 per day. The VNA distributor coordinated technical resources from both their company and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation to review the application. The team was successful in identifying the cause and recommended the installation of the Allen-Bradley series 48MS multisight optical sensor, which has the capability of identifying "bad" parts based on three different methods of evaluation (pattern matching, contrast, and brightness) to detect objects for separating "good" and "bad" parts. By separating out the bad parts prior to reaching a critical stage in the line, the downtime issue would be eliminated.  A trial installation using Allen-Bradley's try before you buy program, successful testing demonstrated a reduced downtime from the average 75 minutes a week to less than 5 minutes a week. An incredible increase in annual machine revenue of over $1,300,000 will be realized!
